Sulfur removal

Sulfur compounds are poisons of most of the catalysts used in ammonia, hydrogen, and methanol plants. A zinc oxide based adsorbent is mostly used for hydrocarbon feed-stream purification in these applications. Süd-Chemie Group has been supplying this kind of adsorbents to industry since the 1950’s. This operating experience makes Süd-Chemie uniquely qualified to provide the best product available. The following are among Süd-Chemie’s ZnO adsorbents popular used for above applications:

ActiSorb S 2 is mainly composed of zinc oxide as active component. This adsorbent is the perfect solution to remove sulfur at high space velocity and elevated operating temperatures. It can reduce sulfur content to less than 0.1 ppmv at effluent stream. The ActiSorb S 2 either used alone, or in combination with other desulphurization systems, such as after hydrodesulphurization or hydrotreating unit.

ActiSorb S 6 is a copper-promoted zinc oxide, placing in the bottom of the standard zinc oxide reactor. This adsorbent is used to remove the remaining hydrogen sulfide to a value below 10 ppb H2S under a wide range of operating conditions.

ActiSorb G 1 is a promoted ZnO catalyst. Simultaneous hydrodesulfurization and hydrogen sulfide pick-up is a feature unique to this catalyst. Even when saturated, the ActiSorb G 1 catalyst fully retains its hydrogenation capabilities.

T-320 HE is a promoted ZnO catalyst used to remove sulfur at ambient temperature. It can maintain H2S content at effluent stream to less than 0.1 ppmv prior to replacement.
